What is Higgsfield AI?
Higgsfield AI is a web platform that sells access to many third-party image and video models, plus its own models and one-click templates, all paid in credits (higgsfield.ai pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20). It is not the Higgs field of particle physics, and it is not one model. The company is Higgsfield Inc., 535 Mission St, 14th Floor, San Francisco, CA 94105 (privacy policy, fetched 2026-10-21). The founding year and the founders are not verified as of 2026-10-21: no official page we fetched states them.
Reddit threads about trend videos keep mixing up three words. On 2026-09-24 an r/AI_Agents post asked what people use to make the hotel lobby videos. One reply guessed “probably some template from CapCut”, and the answer that named the source came a day later: “It’s a templat on AI video app Higgsfield” (thread). A model is the engine that draws the pixels. An app is the place you log in to and pay. A template is a saved recipe that runs a model for you.
Term | What it is | Examples on Higgsfield | Who makes it |
|---|---|---|---|
Model | Generates the image or video from your input | Kling 3.0, Seedance 2.0, Nano Banana Pro, Soul 2.0 | Third parties; Soul is Higgsfield's own |
App or platform | Account, credits, billing and the model picker | Higgsfield website, MCP connector | Higgsfield Inc. |
Template (Apps, Effects, Genjutsu presets) | A ready-made setup: you add a photo or video and it runs a fixed recipe | Earth zoom (Effects), Face Swap (Apps), Genjutsu presets | Higgsfield's catalog |
Source: our reading of the pricing page and the apps page (both crawled 2026-10-20) and the help center (fetched 2026-10-21). So the short answer to “what is Higgsfield AI” is the app, not a model. When a trend video credits Higgsfield, the model behind it is a separate question. Checked 2026-10-21 by editorial review.

Free routes come first. On Higgsfield, the free tier opens a small set of models with no credits. There is no trial period (help center, fetched 2026-10-21), and what the free tier covers has its own page. Elsewhere, Wan 2.1 and LTX-Video are open-source video models that run on your own GPU with no usage fees (hardware needs not verified as of 2026-10-21). Paying makes sense when you need the full model library or several jobs at once.
Which AI models does Higgsfield use?
Higgsfield lists more than 40 model names on its pricing page, mostly third-party (pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20). Each row carries an exact version and a billing unit.
Video rows include Kling 2.1 to 3.0 with Omni variants, Seedance 1.5, 2.0 and 2.0 Fast, Wan 2.2 to 3.0 Prime, and Google Veo 3 and 3.1. Minimax Hailuo 02 and 2.3 sit next to Sora 2, Sora 2 Pro and Sora 2 Max. Image rows include Nano Banana, Nano Banana 2, Nano Banana Pro, Flux Kontext and FLUX.2; Seedream and GPT Image appear without version numbers. Higgsfield’s own tools on the same page are Soul, Soul 2.0, DoP, Popcorn, Face Swap and Character Swap.
The billing unit changes by model family, so a “5-second clip” is not the same purchase everywhere.
Model row (pricing page) | Credits | Per unit |
|---|---|---|
Kling 3.0 720p | ~7 | 5 s |
Seedance 2.0 720p | ~22 | 5 s |
Seedance 2.0 Fast 720p | ~12 | 5 s |
Minimax Hailuo 2.3 768p | ~6 | 6 s |
Sora 2 720p | ~10 | 4 s |
Google Veo 3 Fast 720p | ~22 | 8 s |
Google Veo 3 720p | ~58 | 8 s |
Nano Banana Pro | 2 | image |
Nano Banana Pro 4K | 4 | image |
Higgsfield Soul 2.0 | 0.12 | image |
Source: higgsfield.ai pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20; “~” is the page’s own mark. Cost per second is our division: Google Veo 3 Fast 720p comes to about 2.75 credits per second, Kling 3.0 720p to about 1.4. Compare models per second, not per row. Checked 2026-10-20 by editorial review.
Of the in-house models, Soul 2.0 is the cheap drafting tool: 0.12 credits per image against 2 for Nano Banana Pro (pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20). Draft a character on Soul 2.0 before you spend credits on a premium model.
Two cautions apply to the list. The first concerns the Sora rows. OpenAI discontinued the Sora web and app experiences on 2026-04-26 and the Sora API on 2026-09-24 (help.openai.com, fetched 2026-10-21). Higgsfield’s pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20 after that API end date, still lists seven Sora-labeled rows.
We did not generate a Sora clip, so whether those rows still render is not verified as of 2026-10-21. We draw no conclusion about what powers them. No plan card on the same page lists Sora 2 under “Unlimited & Free Gens” (crawled 2026-10-20). Sora 2 on Higgsfield tracks the listing.
The second caution concerns the name on the job. On 2026-10-21 all 10 jobs we requested as Nano Banana Pro came back labeled nano_banana_2 in the job record (our run log, MCP session). We report the record and draw no conclusion from it. Check the model name on every job you pay for.
What can you do with Higgsfield? Templates, Apps and studios
You can generate images and video from a text prompt or a reference photo (apps and pricing pages, crawled 2026-10-20). You can also run a ready-made template that does one job per click. The apps page groups its templates into Professional, Enhance & Style, Face & Identity, Video Editing, Ads & Products, Games & Characters, Extras and Trending Templates. The top menu also lists Cinema Studio, Marketing Studio, Ads Studio, AI Influencer, Canvas and Plugins. Whether the trend behind a template is still alive is tracked on our AI photo trend tracker.
Higgsfield’s templates and effects sit in two catalogs, Apps and Effects. The effects page puts a Generate button under each effect, Earth zoom included (crawled 2026-10-20). Genjutsu, the video-to-video tool, has its own menu entry. Our AI effect guides cover single effects such as the AI polaroid.
The help center says every generation costs credits by model, resolution and duration, with the price shown on the Generate button (fetched 2026-10-21). We did not price a template run ourselves: not tested. We did not open Cinema Studio or Marketing Studio either, so we give no verdict on them. For feature tours, read the vendor’s own pages.
Five template families have their own pages here. Each one marks what we ran and what is “not tested”. Earth zoom out turns one photo into a pull-back from your location to space; we made its start frame only. Face swap puts a source face into a target photo or video. It is for your own face or an adult who agreed, and we have not run it. Seedance shows which Seedance 2 version each plan gets. Motion control moves a still character with a reference video on Kling Motion Control. Genjutsu keeps a dated list of trending video-to-video presets.
The full set is indexed in the templates catalog.
How long can Higgsfield videos be?
Higgsfield states no single maximum video length on its pricing page: it bills clips in units of 3 to 8 seconds (higgsfield.ai pricing, crawled 2026-10-20). Kling 3.0 and Seedance rows bill per 5 seconds, Hailuo per 6, Sora 2 and Veo 3.1 per 4, and Veo 3 per 8. Higgsfield’s own DoP bills per 3 seconds. The only length cap we found on a Higgsfield page covers Unlimited marketplace bundles. There, video runs “1 generation at a time, up to 15 seconds” (help center, fetched 2026-10-21).
Cost does not scale in a straight line with length. The plan finder on the pricing page quotes about 14 credits for an 8-second Kling 3.0 clip at 720p, against about 7 for 5 seconds in the table. Straight scaling would give 11.2 (our arithmetic). The Generate button shows the exact credits before you confirm (help center, fetched 2026-10-21), so read it each time.
The maximum duration per model is not verified as of 2026-10-21; our own clips of 2026-10-26 are 5 seconds each. Kapwing, citing Higgsfield’s blog, says Genjutsu accepts reference videos of 3 to 30 seconds (kapwing.com, crawled 2026-10-20). We did not verify that limit on a Higgsfield page.
Does Higgsfield AI have video to video?
Yes. Genjutsu is Higgsfield’s video-to-video tool: its page says you can transfer motion “into a new cast, location or look, or swap selected elements” of an existing video (higgsfield.ai/genjutsu, via Google US results on 2026-10-20). Motion Control also starts from a video, which drives a still character. The pricing page lists four Kling Motion Control rows, Kling 2.6 and 3.0 at 720p and 1080p, at roughly 5 to 12 credits per 5 seconds (crawled 2026-10-20).
The two differ in what you supply. In motion control you bring a still character and a reference video; the video sets how the character moves. In Genjutsu you pick a preset with a built-in driving video and add your reference image.
We ran one video-driven job: Kling 3.0 Motion Control on 2026-10-26, driven by a mannequin clip we generated ourselves (motion control). On 2026-10-21 we declined one Genjutsu preset because its driving video shows real people, and our output would carry their likenesses. Our content policy sets the same rule for you: your own footage or consenting adults only.
How to use Higgsfield, step by step
This step-by-step path comes from our MCP session on 2026-10-21 and the vendor’s help center, fetched the same day. We took no screenshots of the web interface, so interface labels follow the help center’s wording. Button positions are not verified as of 2026-10-21.
- Create an account and pick a tier. The free tier opens a limited set of models and gives no credits; a subscription unlocks the full library (help center, fetched 2026-10-21). If you decide to pay, compare plans before checkout: Open Higgsfield (commission link).
- Choose a model by task. A portrait from a reference photo needs an image model, and a moving shot from a still needs an image-to-video model. For a viral look in one click, apply a template from the Apps or Effects catalog.
- Pick the exact model version. Select the full name, such as “Seedance 2.0 Fast”, never just “Seedance”, because plans include different versions (pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20).
- Upload a photo or write a prompt. Use your own photo, never a stranger’s or a celebrity’s face.
- Read the credits per run on the Generate button before you confirm (help center, fetched 2026-10-21).
- Generate, then review. An off-target result still costs its credits, so budget a second try. The help center says failed generations usually get their credits back, with exceptions for specific models (fetched 2026-10-21).
- Check the Unlimited toggle if your plan has one. Unlimited applies only on higgsfield.ai and only to named models. Generations through MCP, CLI, Canvas or Supercomputer always deduct credits (help center, fetched 2026-10-21).
Our first run worked like this. On 2026-10-21 we asked Soul 2.0, through the MCP connector on a paid Plus account, for a front-facing portrait of our fictional, AI-generated test character, with count set to 4. The quote was 0.12 credits per image, and the charge was 0.48 credits for four variants, 1 try. We chose variant 3 as the reference for every later test, except the eight Soul 2.0 preset runs of 2026-10-27: a Soul style preset cannot be combined with a reference image.

AI-generated test image of our fictional test character. Soul 2.0 via Higgsfield, 2026-10-21, 0.48 credits for 4 variants, 1 try.
Then we reused that reference in Nano Banana Pro for a street portrait at 2 credits, 1 try. Our log marks identity as held. Across the day, 16 jobs cost 24.98 credits, and the balance went from 641 to 616.02, matching every quote.
The log keeps the failures too. One Seedream 5.0 Lite submission returned HTTP 429 and charged nothing before its retry, and one Nano Banana Pro image drifted from the reference. One account and one day are a small sample.
Four things stay open. We made no first video: the session produced images only. Two of our Nano Banana Pro images were set to aspect ratio 9:16 through MCP (runs G1 and G3, 2026-10-21). Where that setting sits in the web interface is not verified as of 2026-10-21. The help center lists an article titled “Why is there a watermark, and how do I remove it?” that we did not fetch, so export without a watermark is not verified either. We have not opened the iOS app: not tested.
Is Higgsfield free or paid, and is it legit?
Higgsfield is paid in practice. A free tier exists with limited models and no credits, and the plans start at Starter, $19 per month billed annually, excluding taxes (higgsfield.ai pricing, crawled 2026-10-20). Plus costs $47 and Ultra $99 on annual billing. Higgsfield plan prices and cost per clip has the monthly rates and the per-model dollar tables.
It is legit in a narrow sense. The company publishes its legal name and address, and it charged us exactly the quoted amount on 16 of 16 jobs (our run log, 2026-10-21). The trust problems sit in the fine print. Unlimited covers named models for set periods, on the website only. Most included models get 365 days, while the newest flagships may get windows as short as 7 days (help center, fetched 2026-10-21).
A refund covers only a first purchase within 7 days with zero credits used, minus a service fee of up to 6% (Terms of Use 9.3, fetched 2026-10-21). Renewals are not refundable. The privacy policy allows Higgsfield to train its models on your inputs and outputs (Privacy Policy 2.3). It also shares some identifiers and online activity for interest-based ads (Privacy Policy 11.3, both fetched 2026-10-21).
Reddit comments dated 2025-11 to 2026-07 criticize the billing and the promo wording. They are claims, not our findings. We have not tested cancellation or refunds. The Higgsfield review puts the Reddit quotes and the terms next to our test log and ends with a buy-if and skip-if verdict.
Higgsfield vs Kling and other alternatives
The answer to “what is Higgsfield AI” settles part of the Kling question. Higgsfield lists Kling 3.0 under Kling’s own name, so on paper it is the same model inside a different app, at a different price. Kling 3.0 at 720p lists at about 7 credits per 5 seconds on Higgsfield, about $0.27 on Plus annual (pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20; our calculation). Kling’s current plan page and Credits Policy publish no per-clip credit cost, so a Kling-direct dollar figure is not verified as of 2026-10-21. The break-even math is in Higgsfield vs Kling.
OpenArt also sells access to several image and video models. Its plan prices and credit units differ from Higgsfield’s. Higgsfield vs OpenArt compares the two per plan and per clip.
The wider field, from template apps to local Wan or LTX video, is in the Higgsfield alternatives guide. We hold an account only on Higgsfield and ran no cross-vendor quality test.
Choose Higgsfield when you want many models and template catalogs behind one login and you will spend the monthly credits. Choose a single-model vendor when you use one model only. Before paying, read the Unlimited block on the card of the exact plan, then go to the Higgsfield site (commission link).
