We did not test Higgsfield face swap: the app is not exposed through the Higgsfield MCP/API we used on 2026-10-21. So this page has no result images, and every quality claim is marked “not tested”. It is for readers about to try the app on their own photo, and it sets the vendor’s free-tier claims side by side. A manual web-app run is planned as an upgrade. The other templates we cover are in our Higgsfield templates catalog.
One rule comes before any step. Swap only your own face or the face of an adult who agreed to it. Never use a celebrity or another person without their consent. The full rule is on our content policy. Whether a swap is lawful where you live is a legal question, and we do not give legal advice.
How to face swap on Higgsfield, step by step
Higgsfield’s face swap page lists three steps (crawled 2026-10-20). Upload the target photo or video, upload a clear photo of the source face, then click Generate. The “target” is the scene that receives the new face. The “source” is the face you insert.
- Pick the target. For a first run, use a photo of yourself, not a photo of someone else. Our own planned run uses our fictional, AI-generated test character.
- Pick the source. The page asks for “a clear photo of the face you want to insert”. It states no size or angle requirements. Requirements: not verified as of 2026-10-21.
- Generate. The FAQ says generation takes “from 30 seconds up to 2 minutes” depending on subscription (crawled 2026-10-20). By the same FAQ, video takes longer than photo.
The same FAQ says the tool “does not support swapping multiple faces within a single operation”. One swap per run, one face per swap.

Is Higgsfield face swap free? What the sources say
Higgsfield says yes, up to 5 image swaps per day (higgsfield.ai/apps/face-swap, crawled 2026-10-20). The app page meta description reads “Get 5 free daily swaps!”. Its FAQ adds: “You get 5 free image face swaps per day to test the core technology. Video face swaps are available on paid plans, which also unlock higher limits and faster processing.” We did not run a swap, so the daily quota and the credit charge are unmeasured. Status: vendor claim, not tested.
Two lines on Higgsfield’s pricing page do not match that wording (crawled 2026-10-20). One lists “Higgsfield Face Swap ~2 credits/image”. A per-plan image table shows Face Swap with Free as “Not included”. The same table gives Starter 1620 images, Plus 7200 and Ultra 18000. The page text does not say what that table counts, so we do not reconcile it with the “5 free” line.
Both statements stand as published. Which one applies to a free account on a given day is not verified as of 2026-10-21.
One community report touches the same question. On r/HiggsfieldAI, a user on an “Unlimited” Ultimate plan wrote that “over 1000 credits were used for 3 videos (8s) and one face swap”. The same comment says: “When they advertised FREE on face swap and 20~64 credits for each video.” It is dated 2025-10-30, a year before our crawl (reddit.com). That is one user’s claim about one account, and we cannot confirm it.
For the full free-plan picture, see what is free on Higgsfield. For credit prices, see credit cost.
Photo vs video face swap
Photo swaps are the free-tier candidate and video swaps are not, by the vendor FAQ (crawled 2026-10-20). It states that “video face swaps are available on paid plans”. The two modes are priced and limited differently, so decide which one you need before you open the app.
The Higgsfield Apps page (crawled 2026-10-20) also lists a separate Video Face Swap app and describes Face Swap as a tool “for photos”. We did not crawl the Video Face Swap page. Which app runs a Higgsfield face swap video on your plan is not verified as of 2026-10-21.
The face swap page claims “frame-by-frame accuracy” that tracks “facial geometry, skin tone, and lighting across every frame”. That is marketing copy, and we tested neither mode.
Photo swap | Video swap | |
|---|---|---|
Free daily allowance | 5 per day (face swap FAQ, crawled 2026-10-20); plan table: Free "Not included" (pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20) | None stated; "paid plans" (face swap FAQ, crawled 2026-10-20) |
Credit price | ~2 credits/image (pricing page, crawled 2026-10-20) | Not verified as of 2026-10-21 |
Speed | 30 seconds to 2 minutes, plan-dependent (face swap FAQ, crawled 2026-10-20) | Longer than photo (face swap FAQ, crawled 2026-10-20) |
Our test | Not tested | Not tested |
We compiled the table on 2026-10-21 from the 2026-10-20 crawl. Photo is the cheaper place to learn what the tool does with your source face. Video makes sense only after a photo swap held up on your own material and you hold a paid plan.
Face swap vs recast vs character swap
Higgsfield sells three neighboring tools, and the names overlap (Apps page, crawled 2026-10-20). We will reuse this block word for word on our recast and character swap pages when they ship.
Face swap puts the face from a source photo onto a person in a target photo or video (Higgsfield Face Swap page, crawled 2026-10-20). Character swap replaces a whole character in an image with a source character (Character Swap page, crawled 2026-10-20). Recast is listed by Higgsfield as a character swap for video (Apps page, crawled 2026-10-20). We ran none of the three on 2026-10-21.
If you only want a different face on the same body and scene, face swap is the matching tool. If you want a different person altogether, character swap or recast is the closer match. We have not compared outputs.
What to check before you click Generate
The vendor gives no realism guidance beyond “a clear photo” (crawled 2026-10-20), so these checks are our reasoning, not tested results. For a realistic face swap, use a source photo where the face is unobstructed and evenly lit. Match its size to the face in the target. Expect trouble where the target face is turned away or half covered, because the tool has less to replace. The vendor says the tool “adapts to any style” and handles “angle changes”; we have no run to confirm either.
Save the original target file before you start. Compare the swap with it at full size. Look at the jawline and the hairline first, then at the skin tone where the new face meets the neck. If the swap changes lighting on the rest of the image, record that as a defect.
What we will record in the manual run
The upgrade run is a manual web-app test on our fictional test character. We will publish its result images here. We will log four numbers: free swaps allowed before the app asks for credits, credits charged per swap, swaps left, and tries per usable image. Until then, the “5 free” figure stays a vendor claim.
Can you face swap with someone else’s face?
Not on this site, and not with our help (policy as of 2026-10-21). Our runs use only our fictional test character. Top results for this keyword show swaps onto other people, including a celebrity meme swap (atlascloud.ai, Google US results on 2026-10-20). That is the case where harm starts.
Higgsfield’s own FAQ asks users to use the technology “responsibly and ethically” (crawled 2026-10-20). It also says Higgsfield has “strict policies against any form of non-consensual or harmful content generation”. That is the vendor’s stated policy. We have not tested how it is enforced.
Deepfake rules and likeness laws differ by country and, in the US, by state. We do not give legal advice on them. If a swap involves anyone but you, get their written agreement first. Do not publish a swap of a real person who has not agreed.
Free face swap alternatives: limits not verified (checked 2026-10-20)
Free route first. Higgsfield’s own allowance, if the “5 per day” line holds, covers photo swaps on your own photo and no video swaps (crawled 2026-10-20).
Kapwing is the one free alternative with a primary source in our crawl. Its AI Face Swap page says “anyone can try Kapwing’s AI toolkit for free without watermarks” (kapwing.com/ai/face-swap, crawled 2026-10-20). The same page says its AI tools “run on a credit system” and offers downloads as a “watermark-free JPEG”. Kapwing’s pricing page gives the Free plan 10 credits and “Unlimited exports with a watermark” (kapwing.com/pricing, crawled 2026-10-20). It lists those credits for auto-subtitling and text to speech, not for face swap.
So two Kapwing pages differ on the watermark, and neither says what one swap costs. The number of free Kapwing swaps is not verified as of 2026-10-21. The face swap page also promotes swapping onto “celebrities”, a use we do not follow.
DomoAI and GoEnhance link to face swap tools from their sites, but we did not crawl those tool pages (crawl of 2026-10-20). No other primary source in our crawl states a free face swap allowance, so the answer is not verified as of 2026-10-21.
When does paying make sense? When you need video swaps or more than 5 photo swaps a day, and a photo swap on your own material already looked right.

FAQ
Is Higgsfield face swap free (daily limit)?
Higgsfield says it gives 5 free image face swaps per day, with video on paid plans (face swap page, crawled 2026-10-20). Its pricing page also lists ~2 credits per image, and a plan table marks Free as “Not included”. We did not test the quota.
Photo vs video face swap: which is cheaper?
Photo, by the vendor’s pages: a free daily photo allowance is listed, and video sits on paid plans (crawled 2026-10-20). Video credit cost: not verified as of 2026-10-21.
Is face swap allowed with someone else’s face?
Not without that person’s consent, and never for a celebrity on this site. Law varies by country and US state; this is not legal advice.
Face swap vs recast vs character swap?
Face swap changes the face. Character swap changes the whole character in an image. Recast is Higgsfield’s character swap for video (Apps page, crawled 2026-10-20).
